Old Lyme first selectwoman fined for violating state FOI law
By Alison Cross
Old Lyme — First Selectwoman Martha Shoemaker is facing a rare civil penalty after the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission ruled that the town unreasonably delayed the disclosure of public records regarding an ex-ambulance service employee accused of sexual misconduct.
The commission voted 5-2 Wednesday to issue a $250 fine against Shoemaker in response to a complaint filed by Andy Thibault and Francisco Uranga of the CT Examiner in July of 2024.
